Spring
has arrived and fishing and camping season is here!!
It is
now officially time to make spring and summer plans for a
vacation at our resort! Our
cabins have had their spring cleaning and our crew is busy cleaning up
the grounds getting ready for all the "Happy" people (and pets) coming
to visit us! We
welcomed many new visitors this winter that came out to enjoy the
winter weather. We had snowmobiler's along with other winter
lovers and mother nature provided us with some beautiful snow. It
has melted away now and we are seeing spring pop up around the
resort. Our managers have moved into their new home and the old
one is gone. Now when you drive in there is an amazing
transformation. We are adding new landscaping where the other
home used to be to open up the area around the office with more parking
and a larger
area to drive through for those big campers coming in. Click here for pictures as we work
on this special project.
Opening weekend of trout season was a big success as we were blessed
with good weather despite what the forecast called for!! It was a
little chilly, but the rain held off and we welcomed a nice group of
fishermen enjoying the start of spring after a long winter. See
our trophy page for a few pictures we
managed to get from some of our campers.
Kim and her restaurant staff were kept busy all weekend serving
up lots of food inside and outside the restaurant. Kim set up a
tent for fast to-go service for those that didn't want to sit down and
eat. I personally had her ham BBQ (with Kim's own homemade BBQ sauce)
and believe me it was finger licking good!!!!
Her food and service are getting rave reviews and we know you will be
happy when you enjoy a meal with her!!
The Happy Acres General Store is now stocked up with food and supplies
for campers, fishermen and other
outdoor enthusiasts. She offers ready to go sandwiches, salads,
deli items, and other snack food. The store also has live bait,
and other needs for fishing, hunting and camping. Along with all of
these items there are groceries, souvenirs, and collectibles. See
the restaurant page for more information
on the Happy Acres General Store and Restaurant.

Our Yurt is up and as soon as the guys are working hard to finish
up the inside of the Yurt. This
will be a very unique vacation experience as Gene is designing it with
a jacuzzi in the bathroom!!! See below for more information and a
link to see pictures.
The
Dam at Little Pine State Park
(across the street) is full now
with all the repairs completed and I am sure the fishermen are anxious
to pull out their equipment and get down to business catching all those
trout they are stocking!! The
wildlife has
been active with the eagles, deer, bear and turkeys spotted around the
campground. So much to see, so much to do - so make some plans to
come relax and enjoy one of the prettiest mountain areas of
Pennsylvania!
COCOA HAD PUPPIES!
Cocoa had 2 little pups February
28th. They are both boys and black like their grandmom
Inky!! We are enjoying having "little ones" around again. If you
come visit be sure to look for them
as we love to show them off. Both of our little boys are already
spoken
for. The one little boy will be going to Kelsey and Dustin Martin
and his name is Duke.
We are thrilled to announce that Dan and Karyn are going to be
the proud new parents of the littler of the two babies and his name
will be Barkley. Our littlest campground poodle is pictured here
below in Gene's pocket. Click here for pictures and watch as they grow!

MEET OUR NEW MANAGERS!
We welcome Dan and Karyn Knerr to our Happy Acres Crew. They are
joining us from the sunny state of Florida and were greeted by snow as
they arrived just before Christmas. They are both originally from
the Williamsport area and are excited to have the opportunity to come
back to the beautiful mountains of central PA. They bring with
them a wealth of knowledge, Karyn worked in the real estate business
and Dan has been in construction. They are learning the ropes at
the resort and looking forward to meeting all our guests. We are
thrilled that they have joined us and hope when you come to visit you
will welcome them back to the area!

Another New
Arrival - Our Yurt is Here

We have started construction on our newest
addition
called a Yurt. A Yurt is a circular, peaked roofed dwelling
with
wooden lattice walls, covered in canvas. These innovative walled
tents, adaptations of an ancient shelter used by nomads
for
centuries, are
creatively engineered and aesthetically pleasing in our mountain
setting. When this is finished, the yurt we are building will have an
outside deck with gas grill, fire ring and picnic area. Inside it will
have 1 bedroom with a queen
size bed, a full bathroom complete with a jacuzzi tub and
circular shower, a
kitchen and living area with a pull out sofa. The yurt will be
available year round and will be heated!! The Happy Acres crew had fun
learning how to erect this structure and you can click
here for pictures of the
progress. Watch
our website for upcoming information
regarding this Yurt, pictures
and grand opening details.

Weddings
We had our
first wedding at the
Lodge back in April 2006 and it
was a big success!! Tina and Skip have supplied us with some
pictures
of this special occasion. It seems the
Lodge turned out to be a perfect setting for their "big day" and they
enjoyed it so much they are making it a yearly vacation spot !!
see some wedding pictures from Skip and Tina. We would be thrilled to work with
you to
plan a mountain wedding for
you. Our restaurant has the facilities to hold banquets and Kim
can work out a perfect menu with you for your special occasion.
We have many settings to pick
from
for a beautiful outdoors wedding ceremony. If you wold like more
information please call our office and set up an appointment to meet
with us to discuss the possibilities.
Pig
Roast and Pumpkin Carving Contest
Our Pig Roast and Pumpkin contest was a huge
success. With about 75 guests joining us outside the office we
had an evening full of great food and lots of laughs!! We had 16
"artists" show us their talent by carving and or decorating a pumpkin
that we supplied for them. We had a variety of art work from
intricate Witches on Brooms and Trick or Treat carved out of a pumpkin
to a very creative dog house pumpkin, and a glitter face
pumpkin!! All our contestants went away with prizes and the grand
prize winner was 7 yr old Rayson Raffensberger, tied for 2nd runner up
were Devon Donahue and Ruth Raffensberger, 3rd runner up was Dean
Berkheimer. You can see pictures of this event along with the
winners by clicking here on our Pig Roast
Page. We are so glad everyone came out to have fun and will
make this a yearly event.
NEW!!NEW!!NEW!!
New Generators are in place
that will guarantee if you stay here you will ALWAYS have running water
and a hot shower!! We are so happy to have this new equipment set
up and running to insure a safe and comfortable stay at our
resort!!
Our Bathhouse has a new roof.
This is another big step in the improvements we are continually doing
to our resort. We now have a new green metal roof on our
bathhouse. We extended the roof to cover over our office door and
also our soft drink machines so you won't have to stand in the weather
anymore.
Along with the new roof we have
added a pay phone located just outside our office door. We
realize that without cell phone coverage up here in this mountainous
area there is a great need for a public phone on site so you can call
home etc... so we added one for your convenience. Another
improvement that will make your stay more comfortable.
BUY-BUILD-OR
BRING
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED
IN BUYING A
VACATION HOME READ THIS.... . Have you dreamed of owning a
vacation
home in the mountains and just could not afford it?? Land up here
is becoming scarce and VERY EXPENSIVE but we are so happy that we can
offer you a rental site in our resort. You are welcome to bring
or build your own vacation home on the site you pick out. Your site
comes with year round access to your property with our managers living
on site to watch over it. Our bathhouse and laundry are open year

If you are thinking of joining our permanent site family and
placing a cabin on one of our sites, we are offering a line of cabins

Hugs Cabin. It is a very exciting opportunity for
people to buy a
quality cabin at an affordable price. These rustic cabins come in
all shapes and sizes and can be custom ordered to fit your families
needs. Our Bear Hugs Cabin was
designed by Gene and you are welcome to come to our
resort and view this cabin

placed up by the playground area built by the same company.
Please call for a brochure and more information.
Attention
Hunters and Fishermen
With the weather warming
up and opening day of trout season behind us we are ready for
those of you that want to come and try you hand at catching trout in
one of the best areas in Pennsylvania for stocked and wild trout.
The Pine Creek and its many tributaries are stocked and the water is
plentiful with the wet spring we have had. Take a look at our trophy page
for a few new pictures of campers, Mike and Patrick, that caught some
trout on opening weekend. They all seemed to have a great time
and there is plenty of spring and summer ahead to come and enjoy the
fishing. And remember if you do get a "big one" stop by the office and
make sure we get a picture to put on our trophy page!!
We had a wonderful turn out
for bear season last year and even though the weather didn't cooperate,
one of
our guests, Dave, shot his bear on opening day. We had our
first resort guest bag a buck this season during archery season, and
now we have had another guest get a buck in the regular buck season.
You can see pictures of
Doug and Henry with their bucks along with Dave and his bear on our
trophy page.
Last year three of our
resort guests
each killed a
bear and
1 of our deer hunters took home a buck. Make sure you book your
cabin ahead for next season. It will be here before you know it!!

pictures on our Trophy Page just click here on the
word Trophy to see pictures of the men and
their game they took home!!
OUR
POOL AND OUR BRIDGE ARE FINISHED!!!!
I now have some updated
pictures of our pool, so click on this link
called POOL PAGE for pictures. Our
pavilion by the pool will be the perfect place to have a picnic or pool
party while you are staying with us. While we are doing the
landscaping by the pool we will be adding a BBQ Grill next to the
pavilion for your use. We also have added a sink and counter top
inside the pavilion. We have finished
rebuilding a brand new wooden bridge over to the pool. It was
quite a process to take out the old
steel bridge and replace it with a brand new wooden
footbridge. See pictures of the bridge on the pool page.
OTHER NEW
ADDITIONS******Our
horseshoe pits are ready to use and our basketball court along with our
shuffleboard
court up and ready for
those of you who want a little competition on your vacation!!
